Beginning as the bedroom recording project of primary songwriter Greg Mastrean, over the last SIX years, Pittsburgh-based Astrology Now has evolved into an exciting full-band amalgam of modern psychedelic rock ’n roll with sixties & seventies sonic and melodic sensibilities, while using creative production techniques to offer the listener a unique concoction of hazy, audio expansion.

Released in 2018, debut LP “Semi-Hollow Review” was an analog, reverb-drenched collection of mysterious pop songs, recorded and distributed on cassette tape, in which all the vocals, instrumentation and recording was done by Mastrean alone. Produced by Nate Campisi, the current Astrology Now bassist helped refine a weird and primitive sounding home audio experiment into a lo-fi landscape of echoes.

The following year, Astrology Now expanded beyond the talents of Mastrean to include the A line-up of Campisi (bass), Zach Bronder (lead guitar, vocals), Matt Turcsanyi (guitar, vocals) and Gordy Brash (drums). The four-song “Knife EP” was released shortly thereafter; in 2019. This venture found the band incorporating the energy of their live performances in the studio for the first time, for a direct and raw production aesthetic that maintains a slight dusting of studio crackle.

The “Knife EP”s release, which included the sale of vinyl 10” records, led to an energetic run of four new singles released in 2020 and 2021. “Floating Eye”, “Martian Leather”, “Evil” and “Atomic Weakness” led the listener into an ever-expanding Astrology Now creative universe of weirdness. A leap even further took place in the following months when Astrology Now gathered to record the 2022 full-length release “See God”.

A 30-minute, 11-song LP, “See God” shows songwriting and performances that have fostered the continued evolution of Astrology Now into a indie/psych-pop pastiche of modern expression. “See God” includes everything from get-to-the-point fuzz rockers, to introspective mental whirlwinds, to romantic expressions of love and beauty.

Astrology Now, WITH THEIR CURRENT 4-PIECE LINEUP OF MASTREAN, CAMPISI, TURCSANYI AND BRASH will be performing the songs of “See God”, ALONG WITH NEW TUNES, on stage in 2023 and beyond.
